I can't help but to get excited when I see some of my friends racing at the US Open Pro Cycling event today. There was live coverage on NBC. I didn't get to watch the whole race but man did it look cold at the start. The east coast has about the same weather that we do here in Colorado and our local race got CHANCED. So you have to be ready to suffer in the cold. Well.... Boulder/Roubaix is also 75% on gravel roads and next weekend is wide open with no racing so I don't mind missing racing in a 25-35 degree day with freezing rain on dirt roads. http://www.cyclingnews.com/news.php?id=news/2007/apr07/apr07news
Boulder/Roubauix has a lot of history that goes along with this course. Some big names have won it, and some big names have tried. Differently a tough mans course. 2 years back a teammate of mine won this race when it was part of the Excel Sports Stage Race, which I hope make a return in 08. http://www.cyclingnews.com/photos.php?id=photos/2005/may05/boulder05/boulder052/05ESBSRrr319 Paul is back on the team this year and will bring his leadership and European racing skills to the team later this season.
Today we had a morning meeting to work on the up coming races. We are going to bring a hit squad to Lincoln Plating stage race, and then split the team the following week with some of us traveling to the east coast for some big money crits and others going to Bisbee.
